Prusa XL magnetic side filament sensor with reduced force with PC4-M10 Passthrough Fittings
by INVESTEGATE
Reduce the force pressing against the filament to make it easier to load Flex & to reduce squeaking with some filaments This is a remix of the side filament sensor of the Prusa XL. Especially when using flexible or soft filaments, it is almost impossible to get them through the side filament sensor. The user tg73 has found a magnetic solution for this. This is where the springs are removed. To do this, 2x3mm magnets are inserted in a row into each hole. Use magnets with N52 strength. The polarity is very important here. This should be checked with the metal balls beforehand! Here you find more information and how to remove the springs: https://www.printables.com/de/model/700838-xl-side-filament-sensor-with-reduced-force-magneti Print settings: The 3MF-Files are already preconfigured for the Prusa XL. If you want to do it without colored numbers, you can just delete the numbers. So the numbers are embossed. 3-4 perimeters 0.2 layer high PETG No supports Pause the print at 8mm layer high to insert the 3x2 3mm (6mm) magnets. POLARITY IS IMPORTANT! If you do it wrong it will not work! How to check the right polarity of the magnets: Stack the magnets together (3x2). And stack it on the Metallballs. Feel the side with the bigger attraction! 2. Now just stack it to the right position to the print bed. 3. Remove the sensor part. Now you can use a tweezer to pit it in the holes at 8mm layer hight.
