The workpiece holds the saw on its rail in a 45° cutting position. And it frees the hands. But under no circumstances is the workpiece there to replace the hands during a cut ! Before use, the workpiece must be slid into the rail with different stress axes to roughen the surfaces and polish to facilitate sliding.
