The simplest AUTS

by droningben

I love the squeezer that I've remixed (thingiverse.com/thing:5913386, my remix is 5993630). The downside of it is that it requires too much time (& filament) to be printed. In addition, it is a little bit complicated because of the ratcheting parts (that worn's out). I wanted to design an extremely simple one (with only 2 parts, easy to print) with an anti-unwinding system however, but without ratchet; so I created The Simplest Anti-Unwinding Tube Squeezer (AUTS). PRINTING & ASSEMBLY The frame is a simple U frame, but to make it more solid I designed it flat, so the loops the rod (winding key) is going through are as solid as possible. It requires some extra work after printing, bending the ends to 90° (using boiling water) but it's easy to do. If you don't want to boil & bend the flat frame, print the U version (side onto the printer's bed as shown in my CURA's screen captures) . Loops are going to be weaker, however, because of this orientation. Stage 1: heat each end, dunking it up to the level of the middle of the V grove, and angle it to 90° using your working table surface (hot end onto the surface); keep the frame upright until it's cold & hold the shape. Stage 2: after you have put the key all the way through the frame, dunk the tip of the key into boiling water to soft it. Then expand the grove of the tip a little bit, so the key won't come off when pulled because the lips of the tip will limit the travel. HOW IT WORKS Pull the head of the key sliding it to stop position (it's a 6mm travel), so the hexagonal part of the rod gets out of the hexagonal hole of the frame, Roll the tube (don't pressurize it too much!), Push the key back in locking position. The package includes a FUSION 360 archive (.f3d), so you can create customised keys; everyone of the family can have its desired style of key. PRINTING Concentric 100% with outside 4mm brim. PLA does the job. Printing keys: if you are used to spools swapping, you can highlight the embossed pattern of the logo
