Cork Turkey Centerpiece

by TGAW

There are two versions of this project. The first one is stand alone pieces that you can glue together. This version is good is you are planning for the corks in the tail to be permanent fixtures. If you are hoping to remove and change the corks over time, there is also a version where the tails and head have rails so the pieces can slide in place together. This will allow you to slide off a tail and change corks as necessary.Although the design includes two tails, if you have a smaller print bed, the centerpiece still looks like a decent turkey with just one tail. :)Printing Orientation The tails can be printed upright to minimized supports. They can also be printed flat on the bed for faster print times. The head I print flat on the print bed for my color changes.Color Changes for the HeadFor the head, the thresholds for my color changes are:ColorStart HeightEnd HeightLayer HeightBrown0mm25.00mm0.25mmWhite25.00mm25.40mm0.10mmBlack25.40mm25.80mm0.10mmOrange25.80mm26.20mm0.10mmMaroon26.20mmEnd0.10mmHeads Up - Only Synthetic Corks Have Been TestedWe've made six Cork Turkey Centerpieces so far. My mother has very specific tastes in her wine. As a result, we have only used synthetic wine corks. I have found squeezing one end before inserting to be helpful. I tend to angle them in.
