Tower of Hanoi without towers
by Stemonkey
Remember that Tower of Hanoi puzzle we 3D printed? Well, it was good, but we noticed that after some time, the towers became as loose as a goose. And even though it is removable the towers are often fragile and unstable, (In our initial design towers are designed removable from the base plate) So we wondered: how can we make the puzzle more durable, portable, and fun? To solve this we decided to design a Tower of Hanoi puzzle without the towers! Genius isn’t it? Using the design thinking process, we came up with a solution that's easy to 3D print, completely tower-free, and more stable than ever. Plus, it's super easy to stack one over another. My students loved this new version of the Tower of Hanoi. It made my work also easier way to teach problem-solving skills and recursion. I'm proud of this project and hope it inspires other educators to use design thinking in their classrooms. the classic mathematical puzzle is a great way to teach students about recursion, algorithms, and problem-solving skills.
