GOLF MK1 1974 Print in place no supports toy car at 1:43

by Prism08

Please print this model on the side… At 1:43 you won't see the VW logo but it should look like a GOLF and it has spinning wheels ! It looks nice at 0.2 in PLA with no supports. Fun fact: this car measured only 3.7 m in length and weighed 780 kg and was first powered by a 50 PS engine ! Let's compare to nowadays: Golf 8 length 4.4 m and weight 1260 kg 110 PS (that's the smallest engine) Polo  length 4.07 m , weight 1150 kg with the 80 PS engine The ID3 is … 2 tons ! Waiting for the GOLF 9 to replace the ID3 and the Golf 8…. What happened in 50 years ? --------------------------- As for the no support challenge, I had to cheat a little bit when shaping the body: there is a flat surface on which the printer can build the rest which somewhat floats in the air. But even if the overhang angle is bigger than the usual “safe” 45, this should not torture you printer too much. The scale is 1:43 and scaling the STL to  1:32 (scale with 134 % in the slicer) or 1:24 (scale with 179 %) is possible but bear in mind that the tolerance for the wheels will increase and there will be more play… Print preferably at 0.2 whatever the scale. Check the gcode to see if there is not too much filament floating in the air - not a bridge or an overhang which should be fine. I've printed a few 1:32 models (light grey and brown) ; the VW logo is visible!
