Hegesianos's funerary column with a garland in relief

This grave-marker is one of the rarest examples of funerary monuments decorated with a garland in relief consisting of fruit and leaves. This motif was popular in antiquity in both celebratory as well as funerary contexts. Below the relief there is an inscription with the name of the deceased: Good Hegesianos, farewell.
