Christmas Tree w/ Working Lights and Decorations
by OneManOnePrinter
I had the idea to create a Christmas Tree that uses 300mm LED filament ( noodle ) in any color I want, allowing me to add mini decorations as desired. I found the 3D model of the tree by abekabakoff on Printables: https://www.printables.com/model/92976-christmas-tree and modified it by adding a square base with a hole for the LED filament wires to pass through. I also designed a stand for the tree, which features a cutout for the switch on the 3V battery holder . Below, I’ve included a PDF with the assembly instructions. The small ornaments GlobeV1_small (6mm in diameter) were very difficult to print: I printed one at a time on the print bed, using a 0.08mm layer height with a 0.4mm stock nozzle. For the larger ones Globe_bigV2 (9.3mm in diameter), I also used a 0.08mm layer height, printing them by object. This setting prevents the objects from detaching from the build plate when using the print-by-layers mode. I chose to use a 0.08mm layer height for the ornaments because I wanted the best appearance.
