Heltec Desktop Enclosure

by Rob Manders

A desktop enclosure for the Heltec radio, ideal as a desktop node for mesh networks such as Meshcore or Meshtastic. This enclosure has been designed around the Heltec v3 and 3000 mAh (104060) battery. This should also fit the Heltec v4, though I have not verified this myself. This inclosure includes space for a miniature SPST rocker switch on the rear. Models have also been included in the profile if you wish to print versions without the switch or logo. Assembly requires four 2x6 self tapping screws, linked below.Assembly NotesInserting the battery may require some gentle jiggling for it to seat in the bottom. You can use a tool to help guide it into place, but do not use anything sharp. With the battery in place, the SME connector can then be fed in and secured into place. This may be a little fiddly. The opening has been designed as a hexagon on the underside to prevent the connector spinning freely. An SME tool has been included in the print profile to help tighten up the nut. You can now connect the antenna and battery and push the board into place. This is intentionally a tight fit to help hold the board securely in place, so just apply some gentle pressure until it's fully seated. Pleace take care not to pinch any of the wires. Please ensure the power is off before connecting the board. Do not turn on the power without an antenna connected. With everything in place, you can now screw the face plate into place using four 2x6 self tapping screws. Optionally, you can also apply self-adhesive flocking to the base. A template has been included to help you cut it to the correct size.
